I understand that in Australia we are driven into the liberal/labour dichotomy. But stopping the boats is a non-party issue. Even the Labour Party now supports it in principle. This Australian policy of "stopping the boats" is applauded internationally and is recognised as "saving lives" http://www.abc.net.au/…/up-to-50-dead-migrants-foun…/6731108

If I am asked on the street anywhere in Australia whether I am a citizen or otherwise authorised to be here I will proudly respond. "Yes I am."
The better question is
"Who is there in Australia who is afraid to be asked, Do you have a right to be here?''
And. "Who is protecting them?"

Of course painting a “rainbow footpath” will have proponents and opponents but the power of the press should target the ball, not the players.
Penberthy, Advertiser 28th August, writes in ignorance of the impramateur of local government and erroneously paints Council into a role limited by his own knowledge rather than the Local Government Act’s.
When he says that “...council should stick to its day job.” He clearly has not read the “Act” which gives Councils enumerable objectives using words and phrases such as “to ensure a proper balance ...social, and cultural considerations ... equitable access ... reflect communities of interest ..., recreational..., social,... be consistent with community structures, values,...expectations and aspirations.
His bland assertion that Local Government is the “least representative.” is simply wrong in fact and in practice. Anyone who wants to can gain easy access to their local elected member and can speak at will to the whole council chamber on issues important to them. Local Government is in fact the most representative as it allows “almost anyone” to be elected and does not require “superfunded campaigns”. Those who are interested can participate and vote. Those who don’t should not complain.
The local government Act sets up a calculated balance and sharing of power between employed experts and elected members To assert local government is the “least competent” simply fails to bring to account all of the atrocious decisions by State and Federal Government – perhaps it is just that local government is more transparent.
Of course Councils deal with the basics and they usually do it so smoothly that it only gets press when something goes wrong.
To describe them as “a group of people who should really be concentrating on bin night” in order to criticise them for particular a program or issue with which he disagrees is disingenuous.

South Australia has its own Eddie Mabo’s.
While the Prime Minister worships the incorrigible, indefatigable, and it should be said not well liked while he was alive, and much of a liar, Eddie Mabo we should remember our own.
There was a first native title claim in S.A. Like Mabo it received no support from Aboriginal funding bodies.
Like Mabo the prime applicant was laughed at. Like Mabo the prime applicant was abused. Like Mabo the prime applicant was abused by his own community. Like Mabo the prime applicant was told not to be an embarrassment and to give up.
Like Mabo the applicant was incorrigible, indefatigable and made a few foes on the way. He changed lawyers more often than most clients change their singlet and sacked and re-engaged me, and others innumerable times.
Like Mabo he gradually gained credibility. He gradually gained support from Aboriginal bodies and the community to which he belonged got on board the native title claim process.
Like Mabo he is now dead. Like Mabo his native title claim was successful and it is his legacy that others will benefit.
Unlike Mabo, this man, Gordon Coulthard, Adnyamathanha of the Flinders Ranges is not well known to “white Australia” but he is a fantastic example of a man who knew the land was “Adnyamathanha” and simply refused to give up until it was recognised.
And finally, unlike Mabo, I knew the man. Slept in creeks with him and travelled the country while he told me tales of Arkaba and Nepouie and Wilyaru Lawman “Left Handed Billy”.
The Australian story of native title is written by men, and women, such as he.
In Memory of Gordon Coulthard.
South Australia’s own Mabo.
PRESS RELEASE
The Premier of South Australia announces
A new Industry for the State of South Australia.
The Premier said that “Since settlement the State of South Australia has relied on its renewable resources for its survival.”
“It is unfortunate but true that the first two best known marine resources, Whales and native oysters, were exploited to the point of near extinction.” He said.
What is less known is the early exploitation of the seal population for skins.
There is now an exciting new industry available to us. The seal population has exploded. It has eaten out the Victor Harbor, Granite Island Penguin Population and completely killed off that tourist attraction.
The seals are now moving on and eating themselves out of their own environment in the Coorong and lower Murray. The seals have already decimated their natural feed, the fish that live in the Coorong and the seals will only survive until they eat out that resource.
The community of South Australia that relies on that fish resource, the consumers of Coorong Mullet and the fishers who catch those fish are on the brink of disaster.
Therefore we have authorised a limited humane culling and harvest of seals inside of the Murray Mouth only.
So that this renewable resource is not wasted we are permitting the commercial use of the resource.
The pelts will be available for commercial use and the meat will be available for human consumption within 25 kilometres of Goolwa. We encourage local restaurants to develop an international market for the renewable resource of gourmet seal meat and we see a substantial tourist attraction based on this.
We, the Government of South Australia anticipate that this will create a very substantial international tourist opportunity for the Goolwa region.
This to be announced on the day after the 31st March 2015. If there are any fishers who have survived the annihilation of their livelihood by the seal pest by then.
Is there a reason that this should not turn out to be real?

AUSTRALIAN REPUBLIC - is inevitable.
I oppose any proposition that is not completely spelled out to me.
I say that all we need is one quick tick that keeps exactly what we have with one excision.. The appointment of our head of State by our elected government and endorsed by our Parliament is all we need.
We need to keep our Australian Constitution and simple snip the requirement that we need the British Monarch's permission.
Absolutely no need to disparage the Queen or our Constitutional history or development to date.

False equality. False purported fairness of reporting.
It is sublimely ridiculous to give equal time to astrology and astronomy. . To give equal time to alchemy and chemistry.
So why does the ABC report give equal credence to the stupidity that the French kalashnikoved jihadi is a "good boy who just lost his job." as it does to the facts that he has a clear history of Jihad.
ABC - you need to report facts and only give fiction a by-line.

Charges Dropped against "alleged" Anzac Day murdering terrorist.
I would like to congratulate the Victorian Police for acting on the information that they had to prevent this "alleged" event.
There is a difference between police being authorised to act on a "reasonable cause to suspect" and make further decisions based on a "reasonable cause to believe".
Each of the "reasonable" circumstances give Police an entitlement to go forward to the next stage.
In our legal system the prosecution have to make a decision whether they have a reasonable prospect of proving the alleged crime "beyond reasonable doubt." This is a much harder and higher level of proof.
I am guessing that was the reason why the charges were dropped.
I want to say that I support the Victorian anti-terrorism branch for taking action when they believed they had reason to.
Whilst I cannot allege that a guilty person has escaped. I cannot help but think that without the action of the Victorian Police there could have been an Anzac Day Terrorist attack.
I hope that the withdrawal of charges does not deter the anti-terrorist enforcers of every State taking pre-emptive action to protect us.

Outrageous attack on a returned SAS soldier. No basis whatsoever for smearing him for cutting off the hands on an enemy to get identification of the guy. And in fact he was the one who reported it so that a proper inquiry could happen.
Completely improper press and opposition politicking. The story is an old one and the slightest bit of research would show it was false.
In any case I fail to see what is wrong with cutting the hands off someone who is dead anyway and was a few seconds before trying to kill you.
But the bigger point is. The story is false and should never have been raised. Fact is he served his country putting his life on the line to protect us against Jihadis at a time when most of the country was, and remains, still asleep to the threat.

I am highly supportive of the idea and the process and I am one of the 98.2% of non-indigenous Australians who need to be in the forefront too.

THIS WEEKS JIHADI's - leaving aside the running battles:
MOTOR CYCLE RIDE BY SHOOTING - TUNIS
BANGKOK BOMBING - nearly got Jimmy.
KALASHNIKOV attack on Paris bound train. this morning
Nothing to do with Islam? Nothing to do with Australia?
It will never happen here?
It has happened here - 23 arrests for attacks and planned attacks here in Australia in just one 9 month period.
Another 5 arrested leaving with bags of money who now join the few hundred other known want to be Jihadis who wander our streets.
Auburn streets shut down by man who married a girl who changed her name to Mohommeds 6 year old brides name.
Can't walk the streets of Lakemba with a an Australian Flag.
But I keep forgetting I am not being objective.

I SUPPORT THE EXTENSION OF AUSTRALIAN WARFARE AGAINST THE ISLAMISTS
1. As humans, since time immemorial we have and keep the right to self-preservation and self defence.
2. Possibly even a duty to defend our selves and those who depend upon us, our family, our children, our elderly and infirm.
3. Every person has always been able to defend themselves from brigands, robbers, invaders..
4. The right to self defence survives. Proportionality and necessity apply.
5. There is a clear distinction between defence and pretending to defend in order to be belligerent.
6. I believe Islamists have attacked us, Western Democracy. And I believe that they will continue to attack. We see it virtually daily for goodness sake!
7. I have seen more than enough posters and signs saying “we don’t want democrary. We want Sharia” and I have heard more than enough chanting Islamists saying “God’s Law (according to them) no man made law (meaning the rule of law and democracy that I believe in).
8. They will not stop. They did not stop last time. They had to be stopped in Vienna by force of arms.
9. It is sheer ignorance to say “until it is my back yard it is not a problem.”
10. As a matter of fact it is in your back yard. In Australia 23 arrests for terrorist activity in just 9 months.
11. I support our Government taking the fight to those who are already at war with us whether we like it or not.

Just want to say to Islamists. I am not trying to convert you.
I am just telling you.
If you break our laws. I am out to make sure you are charged. Every time.
The dichotomy, the polarisation if you like, is between those who will abide by our laws and those who will not.
So much dissimulation in the Australian - 14th August 2015, page 15, an article which compares and crushes together the violent concepts of Christianity and Islam.
The fundamental mis-syllogism is to compare the historic Christianity of the Crusades with the Islam of 2015 and say "See. No difference"
The falsity is to imply that acts of atrocities committed in the name of Islam today are no worse than those committed hundreds or thousands of years ago and to infer that they may be, even today, justified.
"Therefore people who believe they are fight feel they have the responsibility to impose their views on others no-violently, or if necessary, violently."
In Australia we live in 2015. We are a tolerant multi-faceted community.
We democratically place limits of how we engage with each other.
Those limits exclude the violent imposition of the views of "those who believe they are right" on others.
The Australian article is wrong to assert that the "conversation" between Islam and Muslims and the rest is "polarised. It is only polarised that way by the participants and the puerile analysis of the press which is exemplified by this newspaper article.
There is a very clear dichotomy though.
It is between ordinary Australians including those who are Muslim, , and those Islamists who wish to use the paradigm of violence to persuade, convert, subjugate or kill, and who so persistently just ignore Australian Laws against violence, child-marriage and so on.
The dichotomy, the polarisation if you like, is between those who will abide by our laws and those who will not.

There is a need to stand up against terrorist bullies that threaten me, and threaten each and every Australian with death by knife or any other way. It needs to be resisted.
It needs to be resisted strongly. And so I do. On the other hand ordinary Australians who happen to be Islamic should be protected from the backlash.
I am against graffiti of easy targets. I am against spitting on or resentful action to any person and right now we need to say that includes Muslims.
We have to come together as an Australian Community and spit on the right targets. Bloody terrorists.

This so very dangerous. While I cannot defame this particular man I can say that I observe a general Islamisation policy that those who go overseas to serve in Jihad, repeatedly come back to their host countries after each of their tours of duty. They come back well trained in acts of terrorism, violence and fundamental anti-western culture and spread their poison wherever they can. Frequently claiming they are helping in de-radicalisation programs. Even gaoling them is a positive step for Islamisation as they recruit gaol inmates. Victorian prisons are now controlled by Islamic gangs. Bad mistake to bring anyone back. The only good way to deal with this guy is to send him back from whence he came.
